Formed in 1984 by guitarist Tony Cortese, this Coral Springs, Florida based band would ultimately change the course of Phil's life and career. Still, in high school, Phil set his career plans on architecture and professional golf, but all would change with an introduction to Tony.

Tony's incredible talent as a guitarist/songwriter would only be matched by his incredible patience and understanding as, the leader of the band. Tony's patience allowed Phil to explore all aspects of drumming, and eventually find his drumming voice. Phil would later say " It was this band that I truly learn how to play drums" and credits Tony Cortese and the RIPPIN FINGERS band for his drumming style, and career. Phil would go on to say "without Tony, and RIPPIN FINGERS I would not have a 30-year career." Through the years, members would change, the name would change to LEEWAY, but Tony and Phil would always remain.

Today, the band members have reconnected, continue to stay in touch. and are proud to call each other a friend.
30yrs a drummer will feature a current day reunion of these friends, these bandmates, these brothers as they come together to play songs from some thirty-plus years ago. It will be a special treat for all.
